HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

I cannot believe it is 2008. What a crazy yr. we had. a record setting year of hospitalizations and a major move for our family. Yet we survived it all. I am just hoping that 2008 brings us a healthier yr. or at least less hospitalizations. Although I do have to say that it is NOT starting off that way.

Isaiah's retching spells have been far worse and more frequent. He started his day off today happy but my noon it was in a bad spell. I gave him valium which helped for a few hrs. but soon wore off. He also had a fever which is unusual during a spell. It is so hard to tell if he has a stomach bug or something else b/c he cannot vomit so you cannot distinguish retching. I just hope this new dr. we are seeing next month can really help him out. I just cannot stand to see him this way. The neuro is thinking of starting him on a daily low dose valium. We will discuss it and possibly see if it helps.

Avery is still not himself. His face is not as puffy but he is still lethargic, floppy and sleeping horribly. We have drs. appts. everyday this wake. Maybe somebody will see something. On the MAJOR PLUS SIDE.....

Avery's implant is getting turned on on Thurs. I will be taking video and hope to post it. I just cannot believe that my baby will be starting to hear. It is so exciting.

Hope the New Year will be positive.
So glad you have this blog to keep in touch.
This job is unbelieveable. Sun. only 2 nurses for our unit.I worked 141/2 hrs nonstop. I get overtime on the weekends. Harder to ask for it during the wk. They expect 5-6 visits. Some are an hr long. Admissions paperwork takes another hr + insurance forms. Supvs & nurse mgr fluffs it off saying do it the next day, but you still have the same load. The other nurses used to complain & get nowhere-they've been here too long. Still looking for another job in the system. It's hard-system's too big.
Daren's going out with a girl from Vermont! She's an RA. Daren wants to be an RA next yr to save $.
Love,
Elaine
