Avery will be getting his first IVIG infusion which is basically giving him antibodies so he can fight off infections much better. It should take over 4 hrs. He is getting a big dose his first time I assume to boost him up. The side affects are headache, nausea/vomitting, fevers and flu-like symptoms which can last up to 3 days afterward. I am pretty sure Avery will present with the vomitting. Since he is already quite gagy anyway. His stomach has really been bothering him this week too so I'm sure this will not help things.
I was also nervous b/c his infusion will be ending just when traffic is CRAZY in Boston. Everyone in the world seems to be heading up north which is where we are going so we can literally sit for at least a few hrs. If Avery is not well and vomitting in the back seat then i will be screwed. So one of my nurses will be going with me, thankfully. So needless to say it is going to be a looong day tomorrow.
He will be getting these infusions every 4wks indefinetly. But if this is what is needed to keep him healthy and out of the hospital then I'm all for it. Hopefully we can transition to doing them at home soon.
So in preparation for the crazy day tomorrow I already have my wine and getting ready to watch Big Brother and The Real Housewives of Atantla (I'm an addict when it comes to that show) LOL......
Otherwise we have a funfilled weekend ahead. So if you can say a little prayer that all goes well tomorrow and we can go home without any complications. Thanks
