You know you have a Medically Complex Kid When....

The nurse for the surgeon's is sending you huge hugs and prayers. I mean based on our conversation, I began to get really worried. She said when she started to talk about our case, the dr. knew immediately who she was talking about. She needed to get a complete history of his bleeding issues, which have been pretty substanial in the past. Also when I had Avery via c-section I bled quite a bit almost requiring a transfusion. Well, she was very concerned about this. Hmm. He is going in for pre-op on Thurs. and if any of his bloodwork shows that he has a bleeding issue then they will obviously have to cancel the surgery. But the nurse kept saying "the poor thing". I can't believe all that he has been through. Sometimes, it is a big reality check for me to hear someone else say that. It is like "what are they talking about, it wasn't that bad" but then maybe I am not with one who is in reality. Probably b/c we live it daily so it doesn't seem all that bad. So with this surgery are big bleeding risks of the t&a removal, swelling causing difficulty with getting him off the ventilator and pain is a huge one for use as well. With the port, basically difficulty getting it in and no blood clots. She said the surgery would be at least 2.5 to 3 hrs. given no complications. So it is certainly going to be a tough Memorial weekend in our family. AAARRRGGGG. I am nervous.

Can we help at all over Memorial weekend? We'll probably do something with the girls, maybe go to the beach. I know Janessa hasn't seen them for as long as any of them can remember, but I bet they'd hit it off. You probably have plans already, but if not, let us know. We'd love to see you guys.
