Sorry for the lack of updates. There hasn't been too much going on except trying to clear up the nasty yeast rash Avery developed and improving his respiratory status. We think it was a reaction to the IV bactrim he is on. He has had this antibiotic numerous times but not in the IV form only because there has been a national shortage. So it seems to be a reasonable explanation that he developed the rash less than 24 hrs after starting the IV bacterium. Today is the first day it is starting to look a lot better. He is also requiring much less suctioning than he was at the beginning of the week. So as much as I hate being inpatient, he needed a good two weeks to get a few things worked out. He looks and sounds GREAT. He even got a picture with the New England Revolution Soccer team :)
I'm hoping to head home after rounds late morning. At least that is what I'm shooting for but we all know how long it takes to get discharged. I cannot wait to get back to our regular routine and I'm sure he is excited too. Rick just got back from his work trip and he will not be around next week because he has basketball camp. I honestly don't think I could make it another week with Avery still in the hospital and balancing work, hospital visits, the other kids and house stuff. This was a very tough week for me. Hopefully Avery has had his fill of the hospital for a long time, I know I have.....
